Osama Amasheh

The Architect of Myth and Matter

Osama Amasheh is a prominent Syrian sculptor and painter known for his ability to breathe life into diverse materials, including basalt, bronze, wood, and clay. A graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Damascus University, Amasheh has developed a distinctive artistic language that bridges the gap between ancient heritage and contemporary human emotion.

His work is deeply rooted in mythology and ancient legends, drawing inspiration from Syria’s rich civilizational history. Amasheh’s sculptures are characterized by a sophisticated balance of mass and void, where academic precision meets an expressive, rule-breaking spirit. He views the act of creation as a spiritual dialogue with the medium, seeking to capture the "sincerity of the moment" in every curve and texture.

Beyond the three-dimensional form, Amasheh is also an accomplished painter. His oil paintings often serve as an extension of his sculptural research, exploring themes of nature, women, and human feeling through a lens of symbolic abstraction. As a dedicated educator, he has influenced many through his roles at the Institute of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Fine Arts, while his monumental public works stand as permanent fixtures in the Syrian urban landscape.
